Stephen James – Consultant Trichologist, CiT, ART

With over 20 years in the hair industry, Stephen James is an internationally renowned Consultant Trichologist and a leading authority in hair and scalp health. Based in Saffron Walden, he is dedicated to helping individuals experiencing hair loss, thinning, and scalp conditions through science-led, compassionate care.

Originally an award-winning stylist and colourist, Stephen went on to qualify as a Consultant Trichologist after three years of dedicated study in the science of hair and scalp health. This extensive training laid the foundation for Stephen James Trichology, where evidence-based practice underpins every consultation.

His approach goes far beyond surface-level assessment. By incorporating genetic analysis and blood testing, Stephen identifies nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, and inherited predispositions that may be contributing to hair and scalp concerns. This enables him to create highly personalised treatment plans focused on long-term results while empowering clients with meaningful insight into their overall health.

An active member of the Association of Registered Trichologists, Stephen has lectured internationally, consulted for TrichoCare Education, and runs clinics in Oxfordfordshire, Essex and the West Midlands.  He works closely with wig specialists to support chemotherapy patients, collaborates with one of the world’s finest hair transplant surgeons on advanced treatments - including transplants, PRP, and Mesotherapy - and partners with pharmaceutical research companies to deliver truly client-specific solutions.

His work is grounded in a strong sense of service, reflected also in his role as a Community First Responder with the East of England Ambulance Service. By combining scientific expertise with genuine compassion, Stephen James is committed to restoring not just hair, but confidence.
